Waste to Energy

ISTC researchers are developing new, more efficient technologies to turn waste products into sustainable energy feedstocks.

When people hear the term “sustainable energy,” they usually think of solar and wind power. However, waste-to-energy technologies, which turn non-recyclable waste into usable forms of energy, also have enormous potential as sustainable energy sources. Technologies like anaerobic digestion — which biologically converts organic material into compost and biogas for energy — not only reduce waste but also produce clean energy.
